U.S. Condemns Publication of Saddam Photos
LONDON (AP) - The U.S. military on Friday condemned a British newspaper's decision to print photographs of a captive Saddam Hussein, including one showing him in his underwear. A front-page picture in the tabloid Sun showed the former Iraqi dictator, clad only in white briefs, folding a pair of trousers. Another on an inside page showed Saddam hand-washing a piece of clothing.
The Sun said it obtained the photos from ``U.S. military sources.''

I think this is highly suspicious. What do you think? And if it was deliberate, what do you think the US military hope to achieve?

What is the purpose of the leak? To make him seem harmless? Seems to me that they may be violating his right to privacy - unless of course he has sold the pictures and is getting richer as we speak.

I doubt it. The Sun is regarded as a right-wing publication so I doubt it was an attempt to help his cause. I have to say that the pictures do appear 'posed'

could be the pictures were stolen from the US by MI5(or whatever 'secret agency' we brits use nowadays). it looks bad for the US that they are taking pics of the deposed leader in his knickers, a continuance of gitmo in a way, though much less severe.
so, MI5 steal the pics, sell them to 'the sun', which has no real credibility anyway, so has nothing to lose, and everybody makes a hoo-haa about how the americans abuse their prisoners, etc etc.
all in retaliation for the attack on george galloway. he may not be in the ruling party but he's a brit, and a respected one, and the brits won't stand for one of their own being victimised/framed, albeit rather pathetically, by the US.
my take on it anyway

Cannot imagine that leak was deliberate. But WTF have they always to take pictures of prisoners in 'unusual' positions. Does that not tell a lot about some wierd mentality? Didn't they learn from all the other pictures? Poor operational management indeed. Bush just sent Laura to the ME to appaise 'the situation' a bit, as they say. Will she pose for some photo-ops?
Unbelievable stupidity. it is.

Can someone tell me who is the PR officer for the Govt of that occupying force? Or maybe they'll blame Mr. G. Galloway? He would be happy to be heard by another Senate Commission.
What a human disaster. Again and again...

IMNSHO, How will Laura B. be able to rectify her hubby's bosses errors? The whole Islamic world is boiling and the whole real Western world is ashamed because of the 'fighters of Freedom's actions. BTW, Bush's underwear... what's the 'Calor"?

i wouldnt be surprised if the leak was deliberate...about the washing of pages of the Quran down the bog, i think it was something that really happened and because of the backlash Newsweek retracted it...hmmm..f-d up, but I also think Newsweek should have thought that one through before printing...something like that is bound to get the hamericans all over the middle east shot...
