My part-time Filipina helper is looking for someone who might want someone to come in for 2-3 hours 2 or 3 times per week for general housework because one of her other employers has left town. She's been doing this for me for about 6 years now and she's very reliable, trustworthy and helpful. She speaks good English, and she lives on HK island so it will probably work best if you are on the north side of the island as well.

Rate you'd need to negotiate - I guess it would depend on whether she had significant travel costs to get to you, how many hours and so on. I pay her more on a "salary" basis than by the hour since the workload can vary week by week. I think it reverse engineers to about $60/hr on average.
She doesn't cook for me because I don't need her to, but I assume she can at some level.

Most of the filipinas I know are excellent cooks.
All the local female Chinese colleagues I've had are amazed I can cook. They don't even know how to cook rice. It's all done for them by their maids.

Shazza,My maid does excellent cooking, perfect Indian cooking. Sorry smog BTW isnt it illegal to hire a part time helper unless she holds PR visa?

I have to say that the Philippines isn't renowned for its cuisine, but quite a lot of Filipinas in HK have learned how to cook quite well while working for various employers. I know of a few who have worked for Indian families and can do very reasonable Indian dishes, and others that have worked for westerners and can do lots of the staples.
