I think their expenses become inexhaustible. No matter how much they earn, there will be a never ending stream of needy relatives looking for help.

6K is like 6 times of what they can make back home though...
and 6K also is many HK people's wages and they yet have to pay for accommodation and food here.

That is very well said - overseas workers in the Philippines are viewed as cash cows and constant demands are made upon them once they take on the role of provider.
Westerners have no inkling of what kind of pressures they come under.

Sure. If their employer pays them well then good for them. But not when they work illegally or worse, bringing their employer's young children to work on other part time jobs to make extra dosh.

Some of us do. But what you say is absolutely correct. And it is extraordinarily hard sometimes when in The Philippines if, for example, you meet a family friend or distant relative who has a serious medical problem (e.g. kidney failure in one case recently that I came across) which could be treated but at an expense way beyond the means of their immediate family. It is incredibly difficult to walk away, but either as the OFW or as a foreigner supporting someone in the Philippines you simply have to put very clear boundaries around who and what it is that you will support.

Inside bars I void them, outside I've dealt extensively with them, here and in their own country. From what I can see when when ever a filipino is flaunting their "PRIDE" there is some real crap coming up next. They are pretty cool when they don't start with their "pride" bulls**t.

Who was flaunting their pride? I offered my helper some simple cash assistance (without her having to work for it) and she just politely declined it. It was me who ascribed that to pride, not her.

when ever there is "kidney failure" in the phillipines the news always travel overseas there is always (alegedly) "ONE" gweiloh who solves (sucker) the problem. Funny init?

The current immigration laws create circumstances that keep these women in poverty. Why shouldn't they want to take on a little extra work for extra pay? Why should they have to be available for work 24 hours a day for less than 4000 a month? I can't believe the s**te that people spout!
I have, in the past, done some tutoring for some fun money - I don't support anyone in university or anyone who is sick or troubled. I have since stopped tutoring - it was illegal, but I am pretty sure that very few of you would vilify all the lovely white folks who do additional consultations, tutoring etc to supplement their significant wages.
Stop trying to keep money in the pockets of the rich and take action for even the smallest and most attacked. I am ashamed of you all!

The only things that are being flaunted here are keymaker's ignorance and bigotry. I see no point is pursuing this discussion.
But if anyone (other than keymaker) needs some assistance from a hard-working, reliable part-time helper then please let me know.

Isn't it horrible that people tell lies to get even a fraction of the money that you get for your job. What job do you have? Ever told a lie at work?

So how many kidneys have you paid for so far?
Even the philipinos themselves tell me all the scams that they run, it is hilarious. Even within the phillipines, the attititude of we must extract cash from the richer people exists and it is not exclusive to foreigners. The poeple in the villages do the same to the people in Manila... the girl takes you down to the provinces, Going to visit the family. They treat you like a king. Soon after their aunt, cousin, sister become pregnant, need a new lung, ear arm, kidney, brain etc.
Smog, Do you keep telling yourself of the good you are doing sending cash, for all these ficticious problems people have, sometimes you must wonder if it is all a big setup?

I have helped many helpers with money or finding them a new employer. I have even helped my own maids to get some part time work if they are not too tired but can get extra pocket money. What breaks my heart is to see lots of them telling tonnes of lies and when they leave their employers kids in a place the kids shouldn't be while they are doing part time jobs. Though, it won't stop me from giving a helping hand when the nice ones ask me.
