Hey

I'm new in town, officially here to 'work' - but looking to have as much fun as possible too. In fact the FUN part is the priority....

I don't know many people nor where to go and meet new people - so I'm a bit lost at the moment. I've had a a couple of good nights out, but the folks (my work colleagues) out here work even longer hours than in London!! So, I'd like to meet some new drinking partners to ensure my time here is as fun as possible.

Can you chaps recommend good places to go out and things to do where I'll also meet fellow young expats? I wouldn't normally post on an internet discussion board for something like this... but I'm far from home and this seems as good a source of info as any other...?

Thanks
chopstick mash

P.S. Having 'lurked' on this ite a bit b4hand I am fully expecting, and looking forward to, some pizz-taking, and sarcastic abuse to come my way.... don't dissapoint me now!

I never realised people in London worked long hours? f**k me - you do learn something new everyday.

Best bet mate is to turn up at one of the fairly regular quiz nights, lunches or nights out and get to know a few people - it really depends what your idea of fun is and if I suggest a place when you can join a church choir and you were looking for man love and saunas - it could be a bit embarrassing - hold on - you aren't catholic are you?

Chopper> Keep checking back here regularly, someone will inevitably post a lunch/quiz/night-out-in-the-lash thread.

And don't mind GDV, he's just living up to his avatar...

ah ok -thanks, that's kind of you/them/whoever. Can I just come along to this night out??

Sorry if that sounds like a strange question, I'd never considered meeting new people off the net like that.

Anyone can come to any of the nights out / lunches / quizzes etc. The invite is always open. Some people choose not to turn up after meeting us a few times however..

And remember from a thread a few months back...

...if it is your first night out with us; you have to buy the drinks.

The second rule ofDole Club is -- you don't talk about Dole Club.
The third rule of Dole Club -- when someone says "pished" or pukes up the session is over.
Fourth rule; can not say 'pished' or puke up.
Fifth rule -- one drink at a time unless you have two, or more.
Sixth rule; lesbians are OK.
Seventh rule -- drinking goes on as long as it has to.
And the eighth and final rule -- if this is your first Dole Club:

you have to drink.
