does anyone has an idea how much is allowed bringing into the Philippines?

I would like to bring a LCD monitor as a present, value about 2,5k, and I was wondering if I have to smuggle it in or not [8)]

Ask at the consulate in HK or ask any amah on Sunday or just take your chances. You're going to smuggle it in your shorts? Each arriving passenger doesn't seem to mind bringing in 100 kg of parcels and bags. It can't all be taxed, can it?

Last week i have supplied a Plasma to a customer and of course after the first time cleaning of the screen the coating where damaged from the highly educated phili cleaner even i told her how to clean the things and which detergent she have to use and WHICH one NOT.
Sorry, the introduction i made was maybe to short, just about 30 minutes, the next time i will spent maybe a whole day for that.

depends on what you look like. customs normally target locals who look like they've been abroad on a shopping spree.

geraldo> better bring it along with you when you fly, you can ship it though a box which is cheap but I am not so sure if you can pack it well inside that box, or else will be broken after it reach Philippines, its okey to bring stuff and I dont think you will have problem with the customs there, normally they will just ask you whats inside and maybe because you are not a Philippine National they will just ask you for a tax for it, but I am sure its not expensive at all.

Last time I went home in Philippines (I dont hold a working visa, bec normally DH can bring more than 100 Kgs. and no problem for them because they are paying tax as OFW) I brought along with me a lot of Electronics cost about 4K HK$, they asked me to pay tax, but I tried to tell them that its a present, and they didnt charge me. I dont know how it works for you. But I am sure there is no problem at all.[:)]

FYI the maximum is US 350

I was well over that (about HKD9500) and paid 1000 Peso (or HKD150) after some animated discussions
