Flights to KL [ New Topic]

Has anyone ever used Zuji or www.lastminute.com.hk to book flights? If yes, are either any good? Is one better than the other? Any pitfalls?

Alternatively, can anyone recommend their travel agent? I need el cheapo flights to KL for me & my bubs in July/August... but not so el cheapo as to consider AirAsia flying out of Macau, simply because of the hassle factor.

M'goi muchly.

zuji is fine - used them plenty of times and they tend to be commercially competative. Would go with them.

Lola,

Tell me how many days you're staying and I'll tell you the cheapest available CX fare as a benchmark.

As a starter, the cheapest would be if you are staying between 2 and 7 nights, departing on or before 12 July - that would be $2500+fuel surcharge & taxes. Child 11 or under is 75% of that (surcharges & taxes unchanged I think).

I've used lastminute.com and they are fine. Will check with my other agent for you tmr.

Foth, CX is NEVER the cheapest flight. For example the price you just posted is already more expensive than other airlines' fare in Aug for 7 days+.

Ta, Foth> Ideally, depart HK 21/7 and return 5/8. Youngest is 9, eldest is 12.

OK - that's 16 nights, which makes it very expensive on CX: $5360 ++ (25% off for your youngest only). Get it down to 14 nights and it becomes $4200++.

shazza,

I never claimed CX was the cheapest, but (on that route at least) it is the best. You get what you pay for. And only 3 airlines fly direct HKG-KUL: CX, Malaysia (who codeshare with CX) and China Airlines. Personally I won't fly with China Airlines - their safety record is one of the worst in the business.

The lowest fare that Malaysia is offering on their website for those dates currently is HK$3700+tax (only on MH-operated flights, not the CX-operated codeshare), so I guess that might better value if you don't have or value lounge access, miles, etc.

Thanks Foth, that gives me something to go on. I've only ever flown MH or CX on that route, in any case.

I've used zuji for a package deal in KL last summer. All good.

Call Bessie Leung on 91932292. She is probably the best Travel Agent in Town. I use her since many many years and she never let me down and she is always the cheapest too.

Oh, and I sort of assumed that you had a place to stay there, but if not then definitely look at the CX Holidays packages (the website only has them up until June currently, but I guess they'll be loading more soon). http://www.cxholidays.com

I thought Lola was looking for cheap(er) flights but not the "best" and CX is not the cheapest but the most expensive. Correct me if I'm wrong.

So by that logic we shouldn't buy your cupboards Mango?

Don't get me wrong. I love CX, just not rich enough to fly with them all the time.

shazza,

You'll see in my first post that I offered the CX fares "as a benchmark". I never actually suggested Lola buy them. If she has in her mind a certain quality/price tradeoff (for example, "I'll take 20% less quality than CX for 20% less price") then at least that gives her some idea what it should cost.

Fair enough. I guess I might be the same if I didn't fly enough to just about keep some status with them.
