What capacity dehumidifiers have other people bought for their square footage?
In fortress thet a advised that the top of the range model (26Litres) would be enough for a 500sq ft appartment so we should get two for 800sq ft.
Can anyone please advise??

i would not buy a dehumidifier as an aircon does the same trick!
Unless you never use the aircon, then ok, but for me i already run a/c almost every night, so a dehumidi would be just another machine taking space and electricity.
apart from that, how many you need, 1sdt of all depends on do you leave your rooms all day open or not? if you do decide to buy then i would sugfgest master bedroom and living room to have one is the most important

1 per room minimum is our method - with an extra 1 in the lounge.
Surely air-con is much much more expensive to run. We have the de-humidifiers during the day and the air-con on at night.

well were are not at home so it does not matter...but i could never afford to keep the aircon running 24/7

Just have the dehu in the room with the clothes. Aircon or fans otherwise.

air-con and dehumidifier's work on the exact same principle, the only difference being the capacity and that an air-con unit rejects the heat energy outside the room, whilst a dehumidifier rejects the heat into the room. So never run both at the same time otherwise you will pay more for running the air-con to cool the hot air discharged by the dehumidifier.
We will consume 85 million barrels of oil today, what's going to be left for tomorrow?
