Going for my first tooth extraction in my whole 30+ years of existence and im so jittery about it...any advise to calm my shot nerves would be a great help.

tell the dentist he should use the smallest needle as everything else is really painfull. and don't move your head at all as long he is with the needle in your mouth otherwise maybe he missplace the injection and you are not able to speak the next few days.

root canal is more expensive but no pain.................

this tooth can't be saved by a root canal and i'm dishing out $160 per fixture! i should have been a dentist...
drat! does it help to think of rainbows....or little flying pink elephants?....

Nonsense. Extraction is completely painless, but root canal really hurts. I have done it on 28 teeth before i covered up all my teeth with a crown.

Asian girl, I wouldn't worry about the extraction, it really isn't painful as they give you lots of local anestetics (do not hesitate to ask for more if you feel anything at all). I've have 4 wisdom teeth extracted and it's not painful at all during the procedure. It's a bit weird and uncomfortable though. You might also feel really tired afterwards though so you may want to go an lie down/sit quietly for a while and yes when the anestetics wears off it might hurt a bit but nothing too bad.
