Does anybody have experience of living there? I am contemplating moving that way, but am unsure as to how easy/difficult a commute to Central would be each day, and how cast adrift from the city centre I may feel on weekends. If anyone could help with advice borne from personal experience, it would be much appreciated.

It's about 30 mins from TST so feeling 'adrift' isn't going to happen:

Thanks for posting the link.

I have already been on the link, and have done a certain amount of homework, and all I wanted to know was if anyone had any personal experience of the daily commute to/from Central.

Much as I enjoy your banter, is it too much to ask that you leave this thread for replies to the original question? This is the practical section, after all

Regrettably our two erstwhile Gold Coast regulars aren't on hand to answer you.
Mango would most certainly be singing the praises of the Gold Coast and is probably reading this right now.

There's quite a lively social scene and a sizeable expat community, so you're not likely to feel isolated. Actually getting into town and back is a different matter.

I haven't done the daily commute but have taken the 962 into town, and it's a PITA - the road is twisty, often choked with traffic trying to dodge the tunnel tolls at Tai Lam, so loads of trucks coming down from China. Same applies if you're doing the driving - the truck drivers don't give a toss about road safety and there've been horrendous accidents.

You could always take Toad's wild ride on a minibus but I wouldn't recommend it. There used to be ferries to Central, but then you'd have to get to the Ferry Pier.

If you're considering to live this far from Central, then Discovery Bay may be a better option for you.
It's similar to the Gold Coast, but they have more restaurants and facilities.
Also, the ferries run 24/7.

LMOPQ - What was the point of that post? I don't know Mango, and knowing that he lives there means more to you, obviously, than it does to me. So, a completely irrelevant and self indulgent post.

A precursory reading of your most recent contributions to the site confirm for me what I had thought upon seeing your avatar, reading your post, and your choice of emoticon. Namely that you are a shameless attention seeker. The worst thing is that that it would seem from the picture you posted that you are a woman approaching middle age. Shouldn't you know better?

In my heart of hearts, I hope that what you post is a true reflection of your mental state in reality, as if you are indeed mentally retarded, then you are relatively safe to society.

However, I have a grim suspicion that this LMOPQ character is indeed that, a character invented by you under the misguided pretension that it is witty or funny, or in some way parodic.

You're not that good a writer, and the idea is tired.

And nobody cares.

Give it a rest, eh?

But she does have the right to post here, doesn't she? All you need is to ignore them.

Oh and yes, there are attention seekers around. You have to get used to it if you plan on staying around.

Everyone who posts here is an attention seeker. No one posts thinking "gee, I hope no one notices what I just wrote".

With all due respect, you¡¦re a bit new here to start s**gging people off. Several people on this site know her in real life and by all accounts she¡¦s OK.

Maybe she does have problems in her personal life ¡V so what? We¡¦re used to her now - show a little forbearance and leave her alone.

Oh, and by the way, what¡¦s a ¡¥precursory reading¡¦?
