Siena 2 900 sqf could even be a 3 bedroom - we live in a 750-ish sqf thingie with 2 "proper" bedrooms and even a store room less than 10k
Siena Two has plenty available, 2 flats on our floor only changed tenants over the past few weeks, there's hardly any day I don't see a relocasia or four winds or any of their colleagues downstairs
There are 10 kinds of people. Those who can read binary and those who don't

That's the problem - 900 sq.ft with 3 bedrooms means that none of the bedrooms is big enough for a king size bed and two bedside tables (i.e. there must be a wall of at least 10 feet and a couple of inches), and the third bedroom is just a waste of space. Chianti is one of the very few places I have ever seen in HK where (relatively) big 2-bedroom places are constructed that way rather than created by knocking a wall out later.
How many steps up to Chianti? And is it covered? I was sort of hoping that I could get from flat to bus to ferry to bus without more than a few yards in the open.

Me and the Terrorists are Fundy's neighbours in Tung Chung...pay $9300 for 1200sq ft. which I doubt can be bettered anywhere decent in HK/Kowloon...
Its fast becoming my favourite living area after 14 years here. The airport is close and the only time I notice the noise now is during a storm. Our club facilities are pretty good.
Plenty of decent places to eat in the locale, within 10 mins you are in DB if you must.... some good eateries there though.
I would recommend it to anyone.

I have a couple of friends who live in TC and a couple of others who have been seriously talking about making the move over. Easy access to most places and plenty of choices to eat and shop. The housing complexes in TC also have very anal rules with regards security and getting into the building, so if you don't have a pass or cos your hands are carrying loads of stuff or something, then you get the 3rd degree which can be annoying if you actually live there. Two biggish downsides were that Citygate becomes a bit of a nightmare at the weekends (but that seems to be with most shopping centres in HK) because of all the tourists and outlet tour day trippers and going home after a late night was a bit of a hassle but plenty of people from TC manage it. And like BB said, DB is in easy reach to get away from the crowds too.

Smog,
I've been living in DB since mid March and I'm enjoying every single day since. The place is clean, specious and indeed less crowded. I guess if you’re looking for a modern, contemporary Apt then Chianti is the place for you. I personally moved out of Grande Promenade because It was similar to Chianti (very robotic looking, claimed the place was 955sqf.) I’m paying similar rent as I was paying in HK side, but getting almost double of the size I had + a roof top which is priceless… Of the advantages (personal experience) is you could negotiate the rent and arrange for the landlord to do some work around the house before you move in (paint, tiles…appliances..). I also feel that my stress level goes down every time I step into the ferry, especially if you get a glass of wife at the ferry station. The ride is about 20-25mins, most people utilize the time to read/send emails. Let me know when you coming next, I would introduce to my great, she helped me get the Apt and negotiate the terms. BTW,,, Tonight is the first official salsa night in DB, let me know if you someone is interested.

On a side note, the show flats in Chianti, well the penthouse and two others, were designed by Mrs. BB and her motley crew of builders/fitters put them together
Apparently, people say she's got talent. Which I remind her everyday is me!

There's a good joke there somewhere, but it escapes me for the moment.

I wish I'd known that in advance - it rather spoilt my supposedly quiet dinner in the Japanese restaurant. If that sort of stuff is going on there every night then no wonder the restaurants don't seem to have much business.
I have to say that after a few hours in DB this evening I am far less enthusiastic than Mrs smog - for me there are just too many kids running, skateboarding, screaming all the time. Some of them have DHs around, but I don't think I saw any accompanied by anyone who looked like they might be their parents.
And as with everywhere else in HK there simply don't seem to be any decent sized apartments designed for singles or childless couples.

Smog,
You might want to consider buying a place and renovate it to fit your space needs. I know many people who bought a 3 brs apt and modified it into a a large 1 Br (perfect for a childless couple)....Having a home where you feel comfortable is very important specially in a place like HK. Just a thought! Nas

Yes - well things have moved on rapidly and last night I signed the preliminary agreement to buy an apartment in the mid-levels. This is actually one of the ones renovated by a gweilo to be two bedrooms instead of three and with an open kitchen and a decent bathroom (rain shower etc).
Maybe next time round I'll do my own renovation, but this one is close enough for us for the time being.

Not way over - about 5% over the valuation that the HSBC website gives for it.
