Not sure but, I think ~$2900-$4000 depending on the style; I would suggest calling them first to check on the price and availability before heading over to HP.

And there we have a very succinct summary of the difference between the bankers and the rest of us...

Everyone else is looking at 3-500 for an air mattress. The banker spends ten times as much.

This is a very odd town in that respect.

There are air mattresses and then there are air mattresses, innit. And iirc, there was a thread about men's shoes not so long ago, in which a number of blokes here rationalised spending a good $2k and upwards on a pair of shoes by arguing that they were better-made, sturdier, would last longer, of superior material, etc. And then there are the blokes who think spending that much on shoes instead of beer is just stupid.

Smog,

If I'm receiving guest, I need to make sure that they feel and sleep comfortably during their stay. Personally, I would pay the same amount either being a banker or not! I had an aerobed in the US when spending few hundred US dollars was not simple for me. There various reasons why the aerobed cost what It cost! It is very comfortable, spacious and long lasting. You can spend 500-1000 for a low quality one which your guests would detest perhaps and may not even last you for more than a week or two. I guess it’s a choice to make, whether you care for your guest comfort?

I'm probably faithful to the brand, I've used them for so many years and i'm very happy with quality and service. As far as the price, I think they (Tequila K) charged me a little more than what I would've paid in the US.

Nas, I'm agreeing with you, dude. All our choices come down to a compromise between personal preference/taste and financial capacity. If I could afford to spend HK$10,000 upwards on a genuine designer handbag without flinching, then you can bet your bottom dollar that I would. At the same time, buying a Nine West handbag for $800 will seem like an insane, overly-privileged indulgence to someone else, right?

If I was that concerned about the comfort of my guests, I would let them sleep in my bed, and I'd take the couch

I'm nice like that

I usually do that if my guests are older than I....

Personally I'd just put them up in a hotel - the saving from not renting / mortgaging the space for the whole year to put a spare bed or air mattress in more than covers a few nights in a hotel.

Would you keep you air mattress fully inflated FOTH? The whole point of them is to deflate and put it in a cupboard out of the way.

Then they will be the hotel guests and not yours. Hospitality is part of welcoming guest to your home and sharing food, drinks and quality time. Then what's the point of inviting anyone in this case?

Yes I know - but I don't really want the hassle of trying to clear a space big enough to put a double-bed-sized mattress in where? The living room? I'd still rather put them in a hotel.

But then I don't have many friends who might come to stay, so this is only a handful of nights a year at most.

I've tried sleeping on these things and they're cr*p. They buckle in the middle. It's more comfortable just to fold up some blankets, and sleep on them.

How charmingly Zen of you Juno.

Simplicity is key.

We used to have a spare room for guests to stay over which happened quite often as they knew they could stay with us when they came to the jungle. I thought it was a bit daft to spare such space for someone who doesn't live with us. When we moved to this house, I decided to be selfish when I did the floorplan, cancelled the guest room and made all our rooms much bigger, though I miss a bit of having guests staying over all the time. You just cannot have everything in the world, can ye?

Not with bubs and a hubby.. it's easier to have a spare room when you have no kids
