The Buddha Bellies are about 18 or 19 points clear at the top of the league at the moment, ahead of Shirley Bassey and the appallingly named "Pedo Mom". But there's a way to go yet and we need to avoid having any bad or missing weeks.

Mrs smog and I will be there tonight (but not for a late session since she's on a 9am flight).

Who else?

By the way anyone who has been a Buddha Belly in the recent past should be able to see a new forum here. Let me know if you have and you can't.

I think 'Pedo Mom' is an excellent name. Just as I thought 'Gay Dad' was a great name for an Indie pop group.

As usual I shan't be attending. There are important events at Hong Kong Stadium tonight, though hopefully not at Neptune later.

No quiz nights here in the US! Shocker!
Smog, what is this forum you speak of? Is it for the elite only?

Unfortunately the quiz got a bit silly tonight - Team Shirley Bassey had 12 members, most of them online and scored 66.5 out of 70 (we were second with 55, third got 49, sloppyseconds were 4th with 47.5). Even Matthew clearly felt that this was a bit outrageous. But he gave them the points and they are now only about 5 points behind us in the league.

We need to decide what to do next week. Tonight we really suffered from a lack of film buff (Juno?) and sports buff (Demo?) since there was one picture round on each. And we only had 4 people in total.

We can either just plough on as we always have, or we can try to field a team of 12, at least half equipped with Blackberries or laptops. What do people think?

Actually I think Bulldogs should disqualify teams which are found using online means to answer questions, Buddha Bellies included. It's cheating. Our victory will be sweeter if it is entirely due to our own efforts.

Sorry I wasn't available... team of 12 eh? was there a protest? That's exactly two teams using Bulldogs own rules.
I'd also be happy to see SMS/Blackberry banning, more fun that way and with the three oracles, we'd still do pretty bloody well.

smog, though I very rarely can make it to quiz night - I think it isn't a whole lot of fun for anyone if the 'skill' is having a very big team with access to the internet.

Better to have a team that enjoys the craic in my opinion. But then again - I'm hardly prolific at answering quiz questions.

Maybe the quiz at Bulldog's could change slightly their format for quiz night? Something similar to Delaney's, TST, where you have to hand in your answer sheet in a given time after each round? Time is tight and it's more difficult to get answers from outside help?

In principle I agree with you. But from Matthew's perspective as soon as he disqualifies anyone he loses a significant chunk of revenue - I guess Team Shirley Bassey spent at least $2000 last night (even we spent $888). Matthew isn't in this for the intellectual satisfaction - he's doing it because he believes he will make more revenue as a result.
