1st of all, force yourself speaking Mandarin and then visit Kamote and Pierro. Buy them 12 beers. I am sure they will show you around.

Depends on what type of drinking establishment you like. Joking aside Shanghai has a pretty good nightlife - for bars / clubs and food (& yes there is a hell of a lot of shagging available if that's what y' want). The Regent - Puxi side innit? Are you looking for a nice few bevvies and some pub grub or going whoring or d'y want t' sip c**ktails in a classy-ish bar?
And yes - Pierrro is a good guide - for 2 out of 3 of those things anyway.
