There are lots of small family-run hotels with swimming pools just back from the beach. The sea is better on the west coast though.

Its called "HUA HIN" and not "HOA HIN"???? As this city is the Holiday place from the King you should show more respect to the spelling.

No, no - it's the place in Thailand where the King gets his Christmas holly and mistletoe from. Obviously.

Show more respect for the Kings Christmas decorations OK.

We stayed at a wee "boutique" hotel at the end of the beach near the hill side where the buddha is. We chose the most expenisve one (which was not much more than a grand HKD) with a small pool in the our garden and a huge sunken bathtub in the bathroom. It's a place with more locals go then foreigners so it's very nice and quiet during the week and we got to have the public pool all by ourselves.

Other than that, I loved the Evason but make sure you upgrade to an upstair room in the corner for much nicer view and more privacy.
