I actually like those ads and expect the censors to have a field day with Tom Ford. But dontcha just love ads that stir-up controversy...

The whole concept of "sex sells" in advertising is fascinating. Hands up any woman here who'd buy a perfume if it was shown nestling against a bloke's willy in an ad...or maybe wedged between his butt cheeks as he crouches on all-fours...? Anyone? Anyone?

Not Lola,

The marketing companies make these ads because they know what grabs the attention of the customer that they are trying to attract. That's why you always see attractive, scantily clad women in advertisements geared towards men. Most men are attracted to body first. Show us appealing skin and you have our attention. We will make an automatic connection, whether it is true or false, that the product can improve the chances of obtaining the type of model in the ad.

Most women, on the other hand are not attracted to body first. They are wired differently. That is why you don't see a lot of half naked men in women's ads. Oddly enough, you do see a lot more women in ads geared towards women as they are more about showcasing the product. If you do see a man, he is more than likely famous, wealthy, well-dressed, and around middle age. These images all create connections with stability and security, the top things that women are attracted to.

With that said, it would be pointless for the ad companies to make an ad with a half naked bloke with a perfume bottle covering his johnson or blocking his alternate windpipe. Women don't want to see that because its not as a draw to them. The ad companies would be waisting their money. Its simple really, sex sells for men and beauty/security sells for women.

I like the first ad. She's very spruce and shipshape down there isn't she?

we all agree its way better then seeing a queer in pink clothes dartling through a fresh m,ountain garden, explaining why robyn is so fine, and keeps his whites and colored clothes sop good!
or then seeing one sanitary towel, next to another one showcasing how it keeps water in with a rock placed on top of it, or showcasing whats the difference between "with" wings and without, and god forbid but thats what we have to see as advertisings on tv many times a day!

I wouldn't know smogster. Probably the last time I clapped eyes of a five year old girl's fanjita was when I was approximately five years old myself. But for a woman of any age I reckon Brazilians or at least some sensible topiary are the way to go. Much nicer to be able to see properly what you are chowing down on, and not have to worry about picking short & curlies from yer teeth.

Speaking of which... watched Betty Blue for the first time ever yesterday and it was obviously shot before Brazilian or even yer bog-standard bikini waxes were invented.

And he need a good old trimming of the privet hedge, too.

Hairy or not, Beatrice Dalle (along with Nastassja Kinski) got me through a fair few shag free days as a student...
