Cheers. The filter I have been using just can't quite get rid of the chlorine taste/smell. The Philips one sounds worth trying. Do you have the one with the PureTaste or MicroPure filter?
It is almost impossible to exaggerate the complete unimportance of almost everything.

if you can find one of the ceramic drip filter systems they are great..it consists of 2 parts the upper section holds the unflitered water which then gravity feeds through a ceramic fliter and collects in the lower section as unit is made from clay the water stays cool...filters last about 6 months
you will love the name but the filters are good http://doultonusa.com/HTML%20pages/candles.htm

the only thing with filters- clay or otherwise is that you can really see how sh*t dirty tap water is and then you begin to question yourself just how effective are these filtering machines, can some of those particles still seep into your water?- our clay filters turn brown within 2-3 mos, close to black specially at the bottom in 6...

The reason they get dirty is they are doing their job. That's why you change 'em periodically.

But shouldn't they become progressively more efficient at filtering s**t?

Filters get a fair bit out and at least the water is cleaner. Could always send the filtered water off for testing but even the bottled stuff doesn't always do well when tested.

Yep up until the point where theres no water coming out its filtering so well.
Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

the only filter that cleans water properly is RO, let the company mentioned by Mr. B come by and give you a demonstration with their electrolyze ?? apparatus, and you will be shocked at the 1/3 cup of black muck below the 2/3 layer of brown water.

Whats wrong with Tap water?
I usually drink mineral water at work , given that I drink quite a lot during working hours (~4.5L daily) and drink tap water when I'm home. It tastes fine to me.

I installed a Philips water filter a few years ago. It gets rid of chlorine smell, rust and bacteria (i don't trust water pipes in the area where i live!)
I have never bought bottled water since. I refill a big bottle everyday, and carry it around in my bag. Easy, cheap and good for the environment. I wonder why would anybody pay so much more for distilled water, which is definitely not good for your health, as it's stripped of all good minerals.

but you do trust philips to tell you what it removes from your water, only to enrich its own business.
hmm, peculiar

The tap water in our condo occasionally tastes of soil; pipes or supply I dunno but I don't like it. Hence the filter. I got bored of buying in water to make lovely cups of tea.
With regard to special electrolysing filters - well I've been drinking tap water for 20, 20 years and damn it - I just can't get it to kill me.*
*It has given me the serious runs though in places such as Indonesia.
Average by Intention.
