Advertising Slogan: "For only 4 simple steps, our "Instant Booking & Confirmation" lets you check flight and hotel availability, make payment and receive confirmation, all with just a few clicks"
What a load of....
- Booked through Internet on Friday evening. - Couldn't reach CX Holidays on Monday by phone, so sent email asking confirmation. - Get email on Tuesday saying all flights are booked.
Finally get them on the phone this afternoon, after being on hold for 30+ minutes, only to find out that they have NO seats available anymore to Penang in November and most of December. In fact, most of the hot offers on the website are sold out.
When I asked why these packages were still on their website, when nothing was available anymore, I got the expected answer...
"Uhhhhhhhhh......"
(to say nothing of the fact that, when I asked for an alternative to a Penang beach retreat, I was asked " How about Tokyo or Taipei?") FFS...
Rant over, won't be dealing with them again anytime soon...
You laugh because I'm different... I laugh cause I just farted...

If you book through the CXHolidays website it is not actually a booking - it's just a request. if you read the confirm email they sent you it does say that.
Were you not midly suprised there was so much availability ?

Were you not mildly surprised there was so much availability ?
I realised that when I started to go through the booking procedure. I still think they should take these "specials" off the website if they're fully sold out. I should report them for advertising malpractice, I should...
Unless, which part of the words "Instant Booking & Confirmation" did I misinterpret ?

Poor ole' chaffie has F/A to do with that bit of the business. Besides, I know for a fact that airline employees in HKG get treated worse than economy passengers when flying their own airline...
Trying different agencies now, to see if any have bought blocks of seats to MY in that period.

Ackshully in HK booking 'special offer' holidays and packages is a rip off. They (CX, travel agents) will offer decent looking packages at nice prices via newspaper ads or their web sites; if you phone up or contact them miraculously those offers are always fully booked. But they'll offer you a similar package that costs more. Bull s**t. If the offer isn't available it shouldn't be advertised.

Don't get Spanner started on that... they will send them on business trips in the jump seat, on Cargo planes or on a 24 hour flight for a business trip in economy !!!

Try this website, its the Travelex holidays site for a number of airlines. Had a pretty good experience thus far.

Er...has the fact that employees (and designated family memebers) only pay 1/10 of the price of a normal ticket have anything to do with it?

To be honest, I've always found CX Jollidays pretty good at getting me my dsired flight confirmations and hotel confirmations when travel agents couldn't and the CX website was reading 'Full'.

Well if he did the nuts up tighter first time maybe he wouldn't have to go and pick the engines up off the ground so often!

np...
the great thing about that site is it gives you the detailed prices for a wide range of hotels in your chosen area. Its fairly no-nonsense and lists all price options in detail.

I'm pretty sure that isn't valid anymore. It's a % of the ticket fare, yes, but then add taxes, fuel surcharge, security levy, etc etc ... Works out to be about 30 - 40% of the normal ticket price, or so I'm told...
But... It also means that you get to sit at the end of the waiting list for every flight (as full fare paying passengers always go first) and you can forget about about upgrades 'n stuff.
I've seen a friend of mine and his family head for the airport 2 nights in a row, only to be bumped off the flight, and finally manage to get seats on the 3d night. So, if you add days-off wasted, waiting for a seat, into the equation, it doesn't look so rosy anymore.
