I'm pretty sure that isn't valid anymore. It's a % of the ticket fare, yes, but then add taxes, fuel surcharge, security levy, etc etc ... Works out to be about 30 - 40% of the normal ticket price, or so I'm told...
But... It also means that you get to sit at the end of the waiting list for every flight (as full fare paying passengers always go first) and you can forget about about upgrades 'n stuff.
I've seen a friend of mine and his family head for the airport 2 nights in a row, only to be bumped off the flight, and finally manage to get seats on the 3d night. So, if you add days-off wasted, waiting for a seat, into the equation, it doesn't look so rosy anymore.
Yep, that's about right. HK$4-600 Y class to BKK or Manila for me, depending on the airline, or around HK$1000 J class. Paid around HK$1200 Y class to London this summer, but only because I was able to go on non peak days, which is not normally the case.
You don't get to use the lounges either, unless you also happen to have a CX Silver+ card and can blag your way in.

Do you guys with access to ID90s have access to First class or just Y/J? If you do then why aren't you flying First? I know I would...

Depends on the agreement between the carrier that employs me and other airlines.
With most carriers I would just get Y class standby, but quite a few I can get J class standby too, and would generally book this if possible. I don't get access to F class on any carriers, though I did in a past life.
