Christmas.

Last year we had a successful charity thing whereby we liberated presents, second hand and unwanted toys from rich little expat brats and we gave them to an orphanage. We also went to a pub to celebrate doing this good deed and I nearly lost my phone. At least I think that's what happened.

Anyone up for doing the same this year?

It means getting your gifts in a clean and working condition to a pub one lunch before Crimble. We eat a hearty Christmas fare meal and someone kindly takes the toys to the orphanage of choice while the rest of us get plastered in the pub.

Advantage; drinking, food - good feeling inside not wholly due to ICL.

Yes. Will there be any more model planes (with rotating Props!) up for grabs too?

What if there's a remote-controlled parrot, Mr B? How will you choose?!

This is the bit where I throw this open to offers - we could go to the same place as last year or it might be nice if someone suggests some place they think also would welcome our attention. I haven't got a van so if someone has then brilliant - or we get our friendly triads to help.

Just don't invite that Luke Skywalker. He showed his true colours in Return of the Jedi when he felt Darth Vader's presents.

Probably told him what was in them and mucked up his Christmas too.

You could always tell him it's an old English Christmas tradition where the guest has to sit at another table on the far side of the room. But better still, don't invite the tosser.

I'll be there in thoughts. If you guys organise the lunch between the 7th and 10th of December Willjess may join you with presents, otherwise my contribution could be to pay for a van to bring in the stuff to wherever you've decided it should go (Willjess used a good man with a van last time to move house, we could use him again).

I will want pictures of the event.

So many people helped last time it would be good if we can do it again.

I would be happy to donate and, depending on the date, might even make it for a drink or two.

Last year we met for lunch I think around Dec 8th. But I think we had a bit more time to prepare and perhaps a couple more people. Anyway - I suggest we look at a lunch sometime w/c 10th December - towards the end of that week - before people shoot of on holidays n stuff. Perhaps we should go with the same charity too?

I'm in, but may not be there at the giving bit, depending on day. Agree with charity too.

I went on my own around February this year ( to deliver more collected goodies) and no one was there. Perhaps they all went to an outing? I do suggest someone calls up first.

As to which charity you all decide on, that is fine by me, (Ish kindly gave us the suggestion - Ish , you still there?)
I would also like to contribute..but not much as I'm no longer working in a kindie (less access to unwanted but good toys).

I WON'T BE helping doing the delivery. Last year, I felt like a coolie, pushing a large trolley by myself whilst others directed.
I am after all, an older woman (who's been constantly twisting her ankles and wrists and still has bronchitis).

Honestly, a man would do a much better job doing the actual 'physical delivery'.

Giving and / or Helping is truly an honourable and loving gesture which also feeds our own souls.

Bless Us.

I dream again
