Hi,

Currently, I live in Tai Po and I work in Mei Foo. I know of two options of getting to work every morning.

- KCR -> MTR
- 72 Bus

KCR and MTR is pretty expensive, while getting the bus takes a very long time. Any other alternatives? I hear that there is a shuttle bus that goes from Tai Po (Tai Yuen Tsuen) directly to Mei Foo but I have no idea where it is. Any ideas?

Regards,
Wai Shing

I used to live in Tai Po and work in Kwun Tong, and I usually walked to the housing estate next to where I live to take the "shuttle" bus that is private operated. It's convenient and didn't take a long time to commute.

I'm not sure if this is what you're talking about . The bus is like the 40-50 seater school bus.

I had a search but couldn't find anything more convenient. In the process, I did find this rather useful site which has a list of red minibus routes (in Chinese) http://www.i-busnet.com/minibus/minibusr.htm

There are other bus operators though. You could try asking at the KCR station.

I have to disagree with you. Transport here is very cheap compared to any other developed country. If you're going to Mei Foo to work, I really think your transport costs would be easily covered.

Thanks for all the advice.

I think I will have to disagree with Juno. Yes, in comparison, it's cheaper than other developed countries. But you can't simply compare the exchange rate. You need to understand that the standard of living is a lot cheaper, but also wages are a lot lower so it's all relative.

Just remember; Juno . More local than local.

You used to speak the truth.
But now you're clever.

Yes, I nose best.

I know nothing about exchange rates but they don't come into this unless you have to pay for your commuting with foreign currency. Your ride should cost you about HK$13. I say that's cheap.

care to elaborate ? For 13$ I don't even get to stand on the platform at home, including exchange rates.
