Personally, I want to hang on in there as long as possible and cling to life as tight as I can

I don't know about the whole euthanasia thing, it seems to be to be borne more out of convenience than love
the way people are, if it were legal, it would eventually be used if the wife had a really bad head cold (I didn't want to har her suffering any more)

You've got a point, AKA... having said that, I still cling to the hope that if I'm ever vegetablised with no chance of recovery that someone still loves me enough to kick the plug out of the wall.

Then I want to be cremated, my ashes scattered at sea and you lot have to have a big fookoff party playing ONLY cheesy 80s music and talk all night about my utter fabulousness and why oh why weren't you all nicer to me when I was alive.

If I was in such a state, you can bet your arse I'll be singing Stayin' Alive in my coma

Remember Jean Bauby, who had a massive stroke and had locked-in syndrome (cannot move or communicate due to complete paralysis of nearly all voluntary muscles in the body) and managed to communicate via eyelash blinking (at first the nurse thought he was flirting) and wrote a fab book using that method "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly"

AKA> I reckon that was all a sham to sell more books. It was the nurse or whoever that actually wrote it but concocted that story for PR. Poor old Jean was probably frantically blinking "kill me now, I can't bear another day of crapping myself".

that's sort of what happened: she did write the book, but he was actually blinking...he was saying, repeatedly "how's about a blowjob then?"

big Jimmy Saville fan he was
