seriously though, 70% of my trip is all about work, the rest i'll reserve for the London Eye (a must) Harrods, and some flea markets along the way...and ofcourse, as with other trip I take- I always get lost one way or another- and hopefully London will be a place where getting lost would be a lurverly experience

Definitely do a "Big Bus Tour". They come along every 10-15 minutes and you can hop off and jump back on at the verious tourist destinations as they take your fancy. Tickets last for a whole day, and one lap usually takes about 2 hours depending on traffic. It's worth considering doing an entire lap first to decide what sites you'd like to take a closer look at and then jump off accordingly during the 2nd lap.

Ooh someone else coming to London! When will you be there and where will you be staying? Let me know and we can go get a drink. Lola and Ben, what did you think of that Soho pub I took you to that does it's own lager? I know some good place for sausage & mash as well.

So if you go to London, you can only eat and drink London stuff? Do you have to talk like a Londoner too? total rubbish. I meant , actually, anywhere in the UK, the whole country is big enough and fab enough to choose from.
Agreed, why go to England when Scotland is close by?

Jellied eels:

And an article (albeit from 1989) about c**kney cuisine: http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9C0CE7DB143CF934A25751C1A96F948260&pagewanted=1
And a more recent article guiding you to the real thing (or the haute cuisine version): http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/restaurants/article-23412855-details/Geezer+grub+reinvented/article.do
My first ever boss was an Italian c**kney: probably the best boss I ever had. And he introduced me to pie & mash (with liquor), and to the delights of Browns and the Lord Nelson...
http://www.browns-griffin.co.uk/browns/welcome.php
(the Lord Nelson (where my brother first met his wife - no she wasn't performing, it was just a convenient place for a group to meet up en route to an Elton John/Eric Clapton gig at Wembley stadium) seems to be no more)
Key lessons included: - c**k-ups are proportional to output - if you get to three pints (of real ale) at lunchtime then don't go back to the office: work out an excuse in the morning - never wear a silk tie if you are standing in front of the stage at Browns
(and, yes, before anyone says it, the girls were, and are apparently, pretty skanky)

Well, ale often doesn't travel very well. Theakston's in London rarely gets the TLC it deserves. Fuller's quality is pretty much guarnteed in West London.

Indeed - one of the very few things I miss about the UK these days is a pint of Pride hand pulled on a summer's evening with a jerk pork after a game of cricket in the park...
(courtesy of a completely different Lord Nelson pub in Brentford/South Ealing)
