Not when it's 30 degrees I couldn't. And anyway, I value my extra 20 minutes in bed in the morning. I do normally walk home in the evening in the cooler months.

I take a bus to and from work - 35 - 40 minutes and just a short walk at the other end. I can take the MTR and KCR to get there door to door, but it takes at least 15 minutes longer and requires at least 4 transfers and at least one longer walk. The bus is more convenient, quicker and more cost effective. I am sticking with the bus.
p.s. the bus is pretty busy
