Want to take the family to a warm place, beach relaxed atmosphere, not a scene like pattaya as i am not in the mood to explain why this big old white guy kisses that small boy on the street.
not looking for high class , just budget, its a trip for the kids, we wont get out orself anyway so theres no need for a fancy area, with fancy resto's etc.
what would you suggest?

KT, Cebu Blue waters or Shangri-La is super nice- your wifey can try out the SPA and I'm sure she'll give you a great christmas gift in return.
Try the beaches along Palawan too. I was able to get a roundtrip ticket for only $60 USD!!! And as usual- food is great and super affordable!
