Not sure biying property at a place you are going to stay only for 6 months is a good idea.

Your property will have to increase in value by at least 5% in the next 6 months just to break even following buy/sell agents costs and stamp duty costs. Wouldnt bother if I were you. Wait for you contract notice. They would have to give you 3 months notice right? Well thats only three months away and you'll know better.

Thanks shazza and monkey. Yes, 3 months notice. Yes, I guess it makes sense to wait. If they don't renew my contract I might badly need the money if I am out of work for a while. I might decide to become an independent consultant, with all the risks involved.
