Don't get me wrong - I actually quite like Frites as a place to go for dinner when someone else is paying, but it's just wrong for a social crowd like this where everyone is paying their own way and some of the participants are not as wealthy as the bankers amongst us. And the environment is wrong for this too - look at the pics at http://www.frites-beer.com/

Yes, thanks Foth, that's exactly what I meant.

Although paying $150 for a burger under any circumstances is insane.

* Just looked at the pix... I thought I'd clicked on the wrong site and was looking at Delaney's in Wanchai at first.

People who tried the burger there loved it and said it was worth the $$, I personally liked the mussels and steak tartar.

There is a new joint in Staunton St "DUKE'S BURGER", burgers are priced at $200 a pop. People thought the mgmt were insane to sell such expensive burger but i guess you pay for what you get...

I’m up for anything you guys opt for.

Indeed - if you like a better environment than McD's then FCC burger $48 including salad and chips is more like it.

(The FCC is of course available to us as an option if people would like...)

I tried FCC burger.....great value indeed.

I guess you will be able to control the attendance Britney if we go to FCC.

Can you really arrange for this?

I agree - unlike Lola I can conceive of paying $150+ for a really good burger and all the trimmings if the burger is made from freshly ground high quality beef.

But that's not the point at issue - there are people here whose budget really doesn't stretch to that sort of stuff.

And yes I can certainly book a table for 8-10 for lunch in Bert's at the FCC if that's what people would like. We did that a few times in the past (before your time Nas) and it seemed to work quite well.

Burgers (to me) have always been cheap'n'cheerful comfort food and no more.

As for $150 or $200... I'd quite frankly rather pay double that and get a decent steak.

I'm reminded of Pulp Fiction.

Just substitute Lola and smog for the protagonists, and $200 burger for $5 milkshake...

Kid me not, $150 a burger is a real rip off!
If I fancy nice lump of meat, I will prefer a big fat steak, or simply ask Frenchie to take his top off (haha I know).

I'd vote for Dublin Jack for a stew.

Beef pie, peas & chips at the FCC. $68 I think. It's a sort of fancy pie in a pot though, meaning it just has one of those excellent crusts on the top, not an all-round pie.

I'm surprised I don't see you in there more often then shazza! (Except the one time when I wasn't invited)

Well I'm not a member you see. I only go there with some friends for lunch and stay usually upstairs, or for that best event which you weren't invited

OIC - OK. I don't think I've ever been in the main dining room at lunchtime.

And I'm not bitter about not being invited, honest.
