You can run skype on any Windoze Mobile (pocket PC) mobile with WiFi as well (I do), as well as a few others. You just need to be near a WiFi hotspot (office, home, Gov't, etc) or have a PCCW WiFi roaming package...

yes but as it's 3G you don't need WiFi any more
there is very little about data limits and charges on the site, I'll still hop over to the 3 ship by lunch

"Fair Usage Policy" normally means that if you use it too much (i.e. take full advantage) they will cut you off...

that would be a great opening question, no ?
"Does it vibrate? How many speeds? Does the battery last a bit?"

The keyword is "multi-directionality" I think...

Apart from anything else, Skype out is often more expensive than traditional phonecalls. So if the people you want to call are also permanently connected via Skype clients and you're not bothered about the sometimes crappy call quality then it is probably a good deal. But since very, very few people are permanently connected by Skype whereas almost everyone has their (normal) mobile in their pocket/handbag all the time I don't really see much benefit. For me dialling a mobile number is a simple as could be. Sticking software clients and all that stuff in the way doesn't add anything much.

if 208$ a month includes most of my roaming (China, UK, Belgium, Malaysia and Australia) then I couldn't give a fly about sometimes crappy service

Well yes, but it doesn't (unless when you are roaming you can somehow get free wi-fi access).

The sucker punch is that the skype thing only works with 3 network. If you are overseas, you need to have a 3 network and not one of their just partners. (I think...)
If you stay in Honkers & don't travel much then fine.

Also this handset can't do video calls apparently. Does anybody actually actively use video calling on 3G phones?

I've got that on my Three UK and I don't know whether it's really worth it. I'm probably using it only twice a month because I have the international add on which means that for £15 I get 3000 minutes calls to most places in the world, including China, so I usually don't bother trying Skype... That said, if you usually use Skype a lot with people then it's probably a good idea. In anycase I would recommend the Sony Ericsson cybershot (one of the Skype compatible phone) as it's a good phone (has radio, photo, internet...)

I pay $28 per month and get free international calls from my landline. I can't see how much savings can be made from that deal.
