I have one very similar to that in my apt.
I believe my old man "liberated" it from the Finnish phone co, way back when...

Nobletime AV at HKIA (which I discovered while wandering around last Saturday waiting for a delayed BA flight to finally arrive) has just got the Motorola U9 so I had a chance to look at it and must say I was disappointed ~ my Pebl has a funky 'slide'n'flip' function to open it, but the U9 appears to require a) fingernails and b) brute force to open. It also doesn't seem to be particularly sturdy either and $2k is a bit much to pay for something that looks like it'll be buggered within a couple of months, boo.

And they didn't even have the purple version, pah.

Moto is on a downward trend - I do some Moto stuff in a few factories 'up-north' and can honestly say that I'm not inspired by the current / upcoming models....I think the Taiwan HTC phones (pda things) are funky.

This one is muy-funky and has similar touch screen functions as i-phone

LG are doing well these days - as are Samsung!

Spanner - are the pics good enough to print? Does it do any focus stuff or is it point, zoom via feet and shoot? Looks quite nifty.

nice and clear when up-close....bit 'oil painting'ish' over distance, but yup, pretty good. What's the damage for one of these? Mrs hkJay is on the hunt for a new dog 'n' bone.

I got this through '3' as a Diamond Customer and it cost me about 1900 bucks with a 12 months contract.

Sounds good - I also have the 'Diamond' thing although it seems that this means I cannot ever get thru to my 'personal account manager' - it's about 12 months since my last purchase from them so I'll give it a go for this dog n bone.

Cheers mate!

Agree, Motorola are s**t! I've been fumbling with one for years and hated it within a month of buying it. I was looking at the LG KS20 before leaving HK (and shold have bought it). Alas, moving back in time 20 years (ie, moving back to Australia) I'm seriously considering the "Viewty" KU990 from LG. The only thing of concern is the speed of the UI, and that rubbish external stylis.
Spanner, how does that stylus affect things? Have you just removed it all together?

I'm also checking the HTC things now... they certainly look OK.

Bloke, I'll not get an iPhone until they support 3G at the very least. Excellent phones, (have played with one and love it), but they need to be upgraded to compete with other handsets available at the moment.

Yes agree aussie. 3G and legal availability in HK are pre-reqs.

Do they have 3G networks in Australia then ?

We have 4G... they're calling it "Next G".

As I say, they've dubbed it "Next Gen"... my assumption in calling it 4D

LG is the front runner for me at the moment... not as nice as the iPhone in terms of interface, but a good phone as long as I can ditch that bloody stylus!
