Right,

I am done with temp's in the single digits and paying US$18 for beer. Need to get away someplace warm and cheap.

Cebu sounds nice. Anyone been...? Any advice on go/no go zones...?

Would prefer to kick back on a beach for a week and do some Hobbie Cat sailing...

Links greatly appreciated.

My bubs went here last Oct and loved it; they got their Padi licences while they were there, too.

THat is the most expensive resort there - I am trying to remember the name of the place we stayed - which was 1/4 the price, had a private beach and all the activities - I'll post when I can remember - started with a C and it was a local private place, not one of the hotel chains.

http://plantationbay.com/ and you're done for the week.

also: the cebu yacht club is right across the airport, go have a look there - very nice chaps.

for nightly entertainment, go to the Ayala shopping mall, and have a coffee outside, I think it's a starbucks, right next to the west entrance/taxi drop off. Many good looking guides there, so I was told.

there's many great places in cebu, there's a brilliant jazzbar just across the cebu doctors hospital. go there after the shift change...

It's hard hitting and across two legs. No, it's not Craig Bellamy's golf club, it's the champions league semi-finals

Cebu is a s**thole. Spend all your time in the sea and don't expect any decent food.

the man wants cheap beer, sunny warm weather and a nice sea - I'd say Cebu is perfect for that. Plus flying Cebu Pacific will be cheap as well.
Not many will go to the Philippines for the cuisine. However I do know of some some fine (& cheap) dining places in Cebu and surroundings.

here's another nice resort where we've spent a week a little while ago: http://www.tambuli.com/

I stayed here - was very good, great service did scuba twice, fishing trips with the kids, great beach, great reef, Food was good people very nice.

I would go back and recommend to anyone. Is the kind of place to just go and dont venture out of the hotel. If you want to see sights and stuff this is not the place ! Just a great hotel for a long weekend.

I've stayed in Plantation Bay, Shangri-La, Cebu Midtown & the Marriott. Every time on business. Beach / sea - fine. You can get the usual food / booze / fun in town - typical pricing for the 'ppines. Nothing special if you've been in Asia for a while but nothing wrong with the place and pretty damn straightforward.

Don't end up in a bungalow in the 'burbs full of whiskey (you not the bungalow) with two blokes with shotguns and about 40 girls and a taxi driver with a Jackson Pollock view on driving.*

* turned out t' be a good night though.

You remember the cow roof. I do not Mexico. He is goblin.
