Saw this movie last night, and whilst it was rough as can be, I enjoyed it a lot.
Movie is about the real life Essex gangster Carlton Leach. I actually didn't know it was based on a true story until it was finished. Very violent, and quite gory at times, but a good watch. I imagine anyone that lived in the UK during the 90's would be familiar with the people involved.
The flick got poor reviews from what I can tell, but that's often a good sign in my book (ie: Babel got rave reviews, even though the movie is absolute s**t!).

I enjoyed it as well xpat.
Also check out The Firm, This Is England and Essex Boys if you like the East End/football hooligan/gang type films

I think that Movie (The Firm) may also be known as "Green Street", and "Green Street Hooligans". West ham etc, with Elijah Wood?
If so, I have the copy titled "Green Street", and was shocked, but loved it, it's on my repeat watch list :)

This post reminded me yesterday that my mate had lent me the Rise of the Footsoldier DVD. So watched it and yeah pretty good. Typical Brit gangster movie and a few people depicted who were around as I was growing up in that area. They looked a lot meaner in real life though. All in all a good watch.
It seemed the world was divided into good and bad people. The good ones slept better... while the bad ones seemed to enjoy the waking hours more.

Saw it yesterday and thought it was a turkey. Cliched and uninsightful. Ray Winstone gave us the definitive screaming 'caaahnts and maapets' performance in Nil by Mouth. Here the volume was always on 11 and it just got boring.
Thought I might have enjoyed the limo shenanigans though.

Yeah. Rettendon....3 Essex drug dealers shot dead. I think carlton Leach was lucky no to be one of them.
