Towngas has reported a better-than-expected 58-percent rise in profit for last year - to $9.3-billion. The strong earnings were boosted by a one-off gain from buying a stake in a mainland fuel distributor. Towngas has proposed a final dividend of 23 cents per share, and has proposed to offer one bonus share for every ten shares.

now i know why my f**kin bill was so high last month..............

no I'm with beer guy here - we have no option to choose towngas or whoever provides the service, they come up with ridiculous excuses every other month/year for a price hike and at the end they announce 9 BILLION profit
same with CLP and HK Electric - that's not a utility service, it's rip off.

and again - I have little to no choice

Er, the return that TownGas and CLP are allowed to make on HK Domestic Supplies is defined by their licences. If you don't like it then complain to the lawmakers. Their pricing is fixed by a formula, it's not at the whim of TownGas managers.

San Hing did this a few weeks ago

Hong Kong, February 17th, 0.01h

price will rice from 1.3 to 1.4 hkd/l as per February 17th

so my unpaid bills from October until February 17th also went up? I don't think so

Hong Kong isn't a free economy - it's run for an elite (you know this anyway) and the government is 100% compliant in guarding the elites interests since they are parasites of each other. The system essentially is fascist. If you check out the definitions of fascism it fits well. Actually its worse as under fascism there was a attempt to give a decent standard of living to all of the (acceptable) population.

Proposed HK National Anthem...what a crock....

Is it a great country? Yes, it is.
Is it a great country? Yes, it is.
Is it a great country? Yes, it is.
Hong Kong is really great.
Is it our great country? Yes, it is.
Is it our great country? Yes, it is.
Is it our great country? Yes, it is.
I love Hong Kong.
I love it forever and forever.
I love it forever for sure.
Is it our great country? Yes, it is.
I love it forever and forever!
Why not we call ourselves a nation?
Yes, I think we should do so for sure.
