My family and I are moving to Hong Kong later this year. We have 3 children. My husband has recently travelled to Hk for work and has looked at a few apartments. Does anyone know of any area (other than Sai Kung) or any complex's that has larger apartments (preferably on the Kowloon side) . 3 bedroom will be Ok providing we can get bunks. I do realise that apartments are small but I need something that will be Ok for 3 children.
Hmmmm Now is it me or the wife that wrote this message?
Gotta keep you guessing.

Errrr its a movable feast.. you could pay 20K - 200K .. for a 'comfortable apartment'. It really just depends what their version of comfortable means with what your expectations are.
I would not sign anything till they have detailed the max they are willing to pay each month and then you can do your proper research
You don't want to get here with 3 kids for it all to go a bit pear shaped

no budget? easy then: peak mansion, 250k a month - done. Comes with a pool, kids will love it. low rises in Discovery Bay can go for 40k a month (and up), nice garden, some with pool, plenty of space.
It's hard hitting and across two legs. No, it's not Craig Bellamy's golf club, it's the champions league semi-finals

How old are your children? Have you sorted the school out yet? Thought about your Doctor-related requirements? Will you be having a maid? Are you thinking of teaching English while here? Setting up a small business i.e. coffee-shop for backpackers?

Union Square above Kowloon Station has apartments at 1500sf from around 50k if your company is seriously offering comfortable. Colleagues who have relocated in the last few months have been disappointed by what's on offer through mid levels, Pok Fu Lam, and only DB seemed to offer a lifestyle that resembled Australia for anything less than this.
If you are a first expat for the company, they may be in for a nasty surprise.

You could try Harbour Green, 1200sq ft for less than 30k a mth is available there. New place. Excellent hotel like facilities available for the family to enjoy. Seen some expats live their with family as well. Suits Aussie expat family. Don't know about schooling for kids though.

Don't start thinking about where to live until you've got a school... No point looking at places in Stanley if the kids are going to school in Kowloon... Once you have the school, narrow your field of searching to about 20 minutes by car to the school which will mean 45 minutes for them via school bus during peak hours... And then, it's down to budget... and the sort of things that matter: view, balcony, garden, pool, gym, close to beach, close to central, less polluted, space, old, renovated, expats, non-expat environment....

Unless, of course, you are considering sending your kids to an ESF school, in which case you need to find a flat first ~ ESF schools are zoned so where you live will determine which school they get in to.
