Not something I'd ever heard of (looks like it became big in the UK after I left), but looking at their website it certainly looks like somewhere Mrs smog would love.

Why not go get the franchise for Hong Kong? From their website ( http://www.nandos.com/franchising/index.html ) they seem keen to expand and they are already in Indonesia & Malaysia, so you don't have to go as far as London for it...

Talking of new places to eat - if it takes 'Fat Burger' as long to serve your meal as it does for them to open up i don't think they will last very long.

used to do Nando's a bit in KL, but being KL, their poor quality everything (service/outlets/some food items) isn't a fair gauge of what the company is supposed to be like

so where is it opening here??? Jardine's was approached to do it about 12 years ago, but my old gaffer ummed and arrred and it never happened

It's like you were reading my mind. I was just craving some Nandos about 16 hours ago.

Actually, it only takes one drink to get me loaded. Trouble is, I can't remember if it's the thirteenth or fourteenth.

It's not opening here. Wake up and wear your reading goggles.

how about you get the story behind why it hasn't opened 1st before the complaints???

ah yes, you wouldn't know....

OK, Hopewell Holdings gave Fat Burger the site to open a branch. But in HK you get checked by the Buildings Department as soon as you lodge an application to open any retail outlet. They ascertain the sites size and worthiness for the place which will be put inside.
The Fat Burger site was deemed to be too small to meet the standard licensing requirements for a restaurant. At least 23% of the total floor space must be given over to be used as a kitchen, to obtain the restaurant licence.
Fat Burger's plans didn't allow for this so the application was outright rejected.
Re-submission has been done and a note was on the two "doors" stating that a licence had been applied for, as happens with all new retail outlets, and any objections should be forwarded to the relevant Govt Department.

This will be a lengthy process for them to open now, since the jobsworths at all the relevant Departments will now be on the watch for problems with plans/applications etc.

lol..........obviously too tight to spring for a licensing consultant or designer that knows the regulations, they aren't exactly rocket science ;)

delay = more expense and no income = hard to recover loses

We will consume 85 million barrels of oil today, what's going to be left for tomorrow?

Nope - had no idea about that and i wasn't complaining in the 1st place. Think they should take down the 'opening soon' sign though.

Did anyone find the irony in the delay of Fat Burger's opening was related to the limits of space it provides?

(the thing goes like, FAT burger+FAT-ASS folks+tiny space....)
