We're off to do an edit........

puyi,
Whoever told you that is taking the mickey.
There's a very long thread over on Geo discussing this issue, with many recent experiences of people in different situations.
Generally it seems that existing visas are being honoured, but that new multi-entries are pretty hard to get.

Multiple Entry that are valid are still honoured - no problems with mine so far even though it is in my 'old' passport.
But try getting another multiple entry (esp. if not a HK ID card holder) and you'll find they are rarer than rocking horse s**t and don't expect much help in getting one or any reliable information.

quote: Originally posted by bus aunty Last week I applied at the China Visa Office for a multi visa so I could see bus uncle, but I was only offered a two visit visa.
I didn't bother handing over my cash because it will take time (I would say about 2 more weeks) for them to wake up and ok a more workable system.
I would put all business plans that need a physical visit on holding pattern until 1st of May.
They have worked the bugs out of the system now. Will be collecting my visa on Monday.
Do as they ask you and you can get 30 day limits per trip, multi visa.
It took me 15min to go from the security entry to the counter service and all was done.
Much less painful than visiting a bank.

I've still not put my application in yet - waiting for original 'invitation letter' from my agent up north....
Even so, I now face another terrible problem (oh woe is me ) - my biggest customer, based in Beijing, is too busy working on Olympic projects to make time for me at the moment.....What a shame!
Hope they get things sorted before the Olympics start (or at least during - so I can have a gander around Beijing during the event)...

I was prepping to send my passport off yesterday to get my visa - besides the normal visa issue price, there is a "special" extra charge for UK passport holders - (I think it was HKD490)!!! Urm - scam....
