Anyone had any experience getting a visa for Russia ? Do brits need one ? If so any ideas on cost/leadtimes ?

Am feeling a visit to Moscow might be required next month.

I went in '89 on an organised trip and such formalities were sorted by the tour company.

But I had such a s**t time there on a similar in and out trip that, even if we make it to the final i won't be going back....

Manure - Liverpool in Moscow would be interesting from a head bashing perspective, both of each other and the police of everybody.

However, though I think Manure will walk it against Barca, I'm a little pessimistic about Liverpool versus Chelsea. Just a gut feel thing this time.

Yes you need one. The Russian Consulate website would appear to have all the information you need. Last time I did it in about 2003 the process here was reasonably painless once I had the invitation letter.

Should they need it United have the advantage of home 2nd leg, as do Chelski, who no matter how f**kin' awfully they play at home ALWAYS get a friggin' result at home...

Yes indeed. This is my concern, especially if they manage to shut up shop or get an away goal or two at Anfield.

I travelled through the collapsing Soviet Union without any visas, as the border guards were too distracted by looting, internal rebellions and general anarchy. But I don't recommend this approach.
