Cable car breakdown strands 100 2008-04-11 HKT 17:37 Breakdown closes cable car. Photo: RTHK.
About 100 people were stranded on the Lantau cable car for more than an hour. A mechanical problem brought the system to a standstill at around noon. The managing director of Ngong Ping 360, Morris Cheung, said a passenger felt unwell during the suspension, and called 999. An ambulance was sent to Tung Chung, but the caller could not be found. The company is giving refunds to stranded passengers. Mr Cheung said they would inspect the system overnight, and it would be reopened only if engineers gave the go-ahead. Asia's world class entertainment at its finest............

Why would anyone ride on that thing!
It's an accident just waiting to happen. What's it gonna take before people realise that?

Yes - the cable cars give fantastic views and when they are working (how come the one at Ocean Park works fine but the Ngong Ping 360 f**ks up so much) they are great to ride on.
Yesterday when I was taking the Star Ferry a good number of tourists from some excitable European country were gathered around the TV in the waiting area gabbering and pointing and talking amongst themselves with much gesturing as the Cantopop news was showing the previous Ngong Ping crash aftermath footage....I guess they'll be passing on that tourist attraction this time.
You used to speak the truth. But now you're clever.
