Hi All,
Any suggestions where to go for food and fun for 10 days? Any must not miss attractions/places?
Thanks!
PS. If I have a koala passport, do I need a visa? Where do I apply for this?

Hire a car. Head towards Tainan. Check out the "Bun Long"girls en route.

Rotund,
I was about to post a similar thread as I’m going with my lady to Taipei for 5 days in May. We will probably have couple days to spend on our leisure and would be helpful to hear people's feedback and recommendations. I know that few people here either lived or traveled extensively to Taipei so lets wait and see.

Are the 'bun long' girls the betel nut lassies? Do they put out, or are they just there to look nice?

Yes, Giant. I didn't know the English term for it.
I don't think they do, but if you ask very nice, perhaps? (And slip them a few NT$ in the process)
I think Taiwan is great for Japanese food. Couple of nice bars. But 10 days is way too long.
They have some hotsprings at the outskirts of the city, though it's the indoor type and not much different than sitting in a bathtub.

I used to travel to Taipei on business and frankly apart from some decent grub it's f**king boring. 10 days? Lordy - that's a lot of TV porn and w**king that is.

'Coming home to...'

plenty of things to see and do, but not in taipei driving down south on coastal highway 11 was great a few years ago, easy to spend a week if you can stop for a day at some places.

Missus is from them parts so spent more than my fair share over there. If you got a few days hire a car and drive down the East coast and stay for a few days in the South, in or around Kenting - most agreeable. Sun Moon Lake and Taroko Gorge are well worth a stopover. Most important is to take your appetite as Taiwan is the land of the snack.

Yes even I noticed that, it's on at least 3 channels in hotels...
I think the shopping is fun and the food nice as well. If you're staying 10 days you can go to the beach by train.

The pictures I posted all show as "X", I’m not sure why! You can copy and past the links for the picture propriety (i.e. the "X" icon) to view the pics.

Missus and I visited Taiwan couple weeks ago for total of 5 days stay. Taipei was good for its historical sites and food places but our highlight was a city called “Kenting” in southern part of Taiwan. It is a popular beach area bordering on the tropical region of Taiwan. Apparently the whole southern region was under water 10K years ago, now you can see all the vegetation, trees grown on the top of what used to be coral reefs. Getting there was very easy, we took the high speed train from Tapei to Kaohsiung (1.5hrs Train ride) and rented a taxi to Kenting (~120USD including tips each way) and will pick you up and drive you back to Kaohsiung station. The ride to Kenting was about 2 hours, the driver helped book a hotel room and a scooter to go around the national park and Kenting’s beach areas. The place is a hidden pearl, we are definitely coming back to spend more time but we will skip Taiwan and fly directly to Kaohsiung next time… Tapei is ok but not worth coming back - not for now at least- We also made a stop for one night in Taichung which is the midpoint on the Taiwan map before we headed back to Tapei which was the exit point for the trip.
Some pics from trip just to give you an idea:

snapfish doesn't allow you to link to photos in albums you upload there. You need to host them somewhere different Nas.

We wanted to visit Taipei first, the trip to the south wasn't panned. It was the surprise part of the trip, we had no idea what Kenting looked like before we got there.
Any suggestions on a site where I can upload the pictures?
Edit*
The Kodak site has the same restrictions i guess, could view them here!
