Landmark - - - - - heard some interesting stories 'bout this thing from some friends who weren't brainwashed, but told the 'Landmarkers' to F-off....
Typical conversation:
Prospective Landmark Forum Newbie: "I'm not interested in your 'life changing Landmark Forum crap, it's a scam" Landmark Forum dude(tte): "Your deluded, give me your hard earned wedge and your life will change for the better" Prospective Landmark Forum Newbie: "I don't need my life changed for the better - it's great, and I'm happy with it" Landmark Forum dude(tte): "How would you know? You're delusional" ......and so the cycle continues.....
SCAM!
to be, or not to be, what was the question?

There are no specifics in the 'visitor comments' above. Why do none of the comments tell us what goes on at these forums?

what's wrong with Landmark?
Admittedly the male shoe selection in Prada leaves a lot to be desired, but the Paul Smith certainly makes up for that

yes, combined with intensive brain washing so you go and get other members to pay HK$5,500 for 3 days of "educations"

I feel you RR- I lost a cousin for about 4 years to Landmark and then one day he snapped out of it and now he is like a lost puppy. Hard to believe he actually paid for that. - He made me go to one--- i don't see the appeal. Now if we are talking THE Landmark in central- yes I have been brainwashed...
At my lemonade stand I used to give the first glass away free and charge five dollars for the second glass. The refill contained the antidote.

When the Landmark euphoria wears off after a few years all sorts of things happen to the person. Some return to normal some seem to get very lost like your friend.
The outcome of these people is far more complex of having issues, organic psychosis, or cronic depressioin. Dealing with those seems to be a picnic compared to crap the rolls of the Landmark conveyor belt.

So it's like these people are bereft of values or a reason for living and they cling to any turd that floats by and when they realise it's a turd they let it go and then moan about smelling like s**t but not bothering to wash it off and keep on swimming in the ocean of life?
...or something like that.

I've never heard of this. Is it in HK? When I saw the thread title, I thought it must be a tuition centre.
People who fall for this kind of boll*cks would probably also join the Scientologists if they were asked to.

Yes, it is in HK. http://www.landmarkeducation.hk/contact_us.html
I was dragged to an introduction meeting. Oh it is SO appealing, the whole thing is amazingly orchestrated. Many expats and have done it. I'm surprised no one has turned up yet.
Don't even go to the intro if you ever are offered, they will get you. After the Introduction that I got a never ending amount of phone calls asking me to join the Forum at HK$5000 or something. Then your friends who have done it keep telling to do it. They take you to gatherings where you are the only one that has not done it.
There is another group called Life Spring which use to do the same thing here in HK.
Search in youtube for landmark and brain washing, you will get people that have 'graduated' from the Forum telling you their stories, ever so convincing. The whole thing is genius.
Read this, http://forum.rickross.com/read.php?4,17590,page=1 some very smart people in there. Including former team leaders, people that are still hooked etc.

So exactly the same as 20 years ago I had mates that wanted me to join Amway and sell detergent an' stuff. It was quite obviously a lot of bollix and at the time the people who bought into it were shunned by the rest of society - after a few weeks of looking like c**ks with their ever open filofaxes and smart suits on pestering everyone to go to motivational meetings they'd slowly drift back to the pub with only a garage full of washing up liquid to show for it.
Stupid is etc...

No it is very different I think. Amway to me is far cleaner, far easier not to fall for. No brain washing, The recovery is easier, just need to get your dignity back, apologise to a few people, get back to the pub and empty your garage of washing up liquid.
As for The Forum graduates, they will just carry on trying to sell this intangible benefits to all the people in the pub, as they have been programmed to.
All guys I met that have done Landmark also are into Anthony Robbins seminars, NLP and various quick fix healing.

I don't think I need it anyway - I've still got a few mates I can trust to tell me when I'm really being a bit of a c**k and when to get my act together.

Bizarrely, not having heard of this before, I just got an email from a friend inviting everybody to a garden party and "Landmark intro" at her place at the weekend. I've no idea why she wants to get involved with this but I'm going to find out whether she knows what she's getting into.
Shame, because I would have enjoyed a garden party.

If she is inviting you, it means she has done it, and has been assimilated by the borg collective.
Landmark Intros are not held at "her place" they are held in big rooms, with a stage and a incredible speaker. Maybe she is running her own "ntro to get number of people she committed into the real intro. The real intro's are held on Tuesdays.
