Jet Airways are flying a brand new aircraft on the Mumbai route and having seen photos of the interiors I would choose them over CX if not in need of the Asia Miles.
Watchu talkin' about Willis?

quote: Originally posted by The Cerne Abbas Giant What was it I saw on a CX flight back from BKK recently? Kinda fishbone seat config in business class, and very comfortable economy seats with full AVOD. It was a 777 I think.
Yes - one of the new 777-300ERs that do the New York non-stop. I haven't had a chance to try the new economy yet (I'm only really going to Manila at the moment and I keep getting upgraded!). The "fishbone" business is the new long haul business that you get on one CX flight per day to Sydney, which HKBloke loves and I hate, for the reasons stated above.
The plan is that all long haul aircraft will have the fishbone business and the new economy, but it will be the end of 2009 at least before they have finished the Airbus 340s and long(ish) haul 330s I think.
Not sure if they have a plan to upgrade anything on the regional planes at the moment. Last time they tried that they stuffed it up so badly that they stopped halfway through which is why there are still some planes around with the big old cradle seats, which are far more comfortable than what they tried to replace them with.
Unfortunately, stuffing up that regional refit wasn't enough for the Product Manager responsible to get the boot, and she had to completely stuff up the long haul business class as well before CX finally got rid of her.

I quite like the new herringbone olympus chairs in CX biz class. The key for me is that you can sleep on your side which was impossible in the old class due to it not being truly flat. There are shortfalls in the quality of some of the materials however and its a bit odd wearing a 3-point seatbelt but other than that, its much improved from a comfort point of view.
However, if you have a large beer gut, you may find it less accomodating and will probably moan about it.

I understand that the 3-point seatbelt has been superseded by an airbag on all but the first couple of planes? (The 747 conversions).
And a pretty good proportion of CX's premium customers are far less svelte than you spanner, so I would have thought that would be a significant issue.
