oh dear dear aunty bus you left out the closest indigenous group the original true inhabitants of tawain................

The Taiwanese Aborigines are Austronesian peoples, with linguistic and genetic ties to other Austronesian ethnic groups, such as peoples of the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Madagascar and Oceania

Yes, I think we are back to the start. Two wrongs don't make a right so go picket in your own back yard. Glass houses and stones.......All things will get fixed up in time, and then a new set of other problems come up and so on.

1. Pride in China/China is tired of China bashing by hypocratic USA government. Don't measure China by Western values/culture. And tell them to live by USA perceived "righteousness".

2. Freedom of press or western 'rules/instituitions' does not stop abuses.

eg. Hamas democratically elected, Then USA changed the rules of engagement. USA elections/China administration authority is not so much about democracy as about money for campaigning/resources/power.
eg. Invasion of Iraq still got the go ahead. Racial profiling is now ok.
eg. Corruption/money for peerages in UK. Big business can schedule a meeting at the drop of a hat in the PM/MP's office, why?

3. ALL governments make stupid decisions. It doesn't matter how you paint the legitimacy of the process by which they rule. Whether press is available freely or not.

China government does stupid stuff sometimes, does not mean Chinese or Asian ways/people are inferior to USA/Western people/culture.

.....Still proud to be Chinese. (And Juno, have you not seen USA flags printed on t-shirts?). I don't have a problem with it, neither should you with any individual's Chinese pride.

ONE WORLD, ONE DREAM.

....this is really going to infuriate you all........ONE CHINA (Mainland, Tibet, Taiwan, HK, Macau).

Yes, Puyi, your protests as a non-Han minority position can go on as FREELY as you want.

I just hope for your sake that USA will be there for you and not kissing China's arse.

I really don't like people who turn any debate into an US versus YOU confrontation. All that bus aunty does is defends their point of view by attacking another system that non of us are defending or particularly championing. If I was cleverer I would be able to think of a latin phrase such as argumentum ad hominem to describe it but I can't be bothered. Ad nauseam covers a lot of the ranting that's for certain.

Er... I didn't. I simply support all people's aspirations to rule themselves, in this case the Tibetans. Maybe you think of Tibetans as Western? For the record, I support the same principle for Basques, Welsh, Maoris etc.

Of course this is all true, and I agree with you on this. But I still don't see how it justifies your government's continuing brutal repression of the Tibetans and their culture. Could you explain exactly how?

So, I'm in China watching Focus Groups, and one of the questions is about work life balance, and what depresses/frustrates people at work

One guy, a factory manager spoke of having to take the Government officials out for entertainment, and how he has to keep smiling, and keep taking whatever s**t they give him. It's like I am selling my soul, he said, to much empathetic nodding of heads around the table

Perhaps they could make these T-shirts at the same factory as the flags?
