OK - I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one. I don't see that picture as in any way portraying the girl as a "sex object".

I am very confused. At first I don't see anything wrong as Smog said. Then I start seeing it wrong after Load Toad commented on it , and then I said to myself, ' What's wrong?' ............. ummmmmmmm...........I am not usaully confused.

But you don't have a problem thinking of underage girls as sex objects anyway, so maybe you are biased on this one?

Would one admit to one's mate that one thought of his daughter as jailbait? Hypothetically, like.
And is she 'sexualised' or is this merely in the eye of the beholder? And what if she was 12, not 14? Or 12 and looked 14? or 14 and looked 18? Or 18 and looked 14? Tricky, eh?

I'm not quite sure I see your point.
Yes my friend's daughter is quite capable of dressing and acting somewhat older than her age, and this did cause some heads to turn (including mine). She's old and smart enough to know what she was doing and to look after herself. And she was there with the encouragement of her father who, quite rightly in my view, takes the position that it is better to introduce his teenage kids to adult environments and activities gradually in a controlled way rather than hoping they can cope with a sudden switch from childhood to adulthood on some arbitrary birthday.
A number of posters here met her that evening - I haven't heard any feedback that they felt uncomfortable or that there was anything inappropriate about her being there.
And anyway, I simply don't see how this is relevant to whether or not the Disney picture somehow portrays a somewhat younger girl as a "sex object".

Personally I would not let my kids to that, but in another sense, as long as the photo are aimed and put in the correct publications, I suppose its not to bad.

It depends on how well you know your mate I guess. In this particular case he is my longest standing friend and I would have no problem doing so (in fact I think I probably did so after that event - he was the one telling me of the looks the two of them got from bystanders as they walked through LKF together).
And, as I implied above, saying that things which are shockingly bad at 15 years and 364 days are suddenly perfectly OK 2 days later, is patently ridiculous. (Or 17 years 364 days, or whatever.) Clearly there have to be some boundaries in law, but reality is never that simple. There are some incredibly naive 35 year old women in the world (especially in this town, and even on this site) whom I feel it would be morally wrong to take advantage of.

Well, on another note, I'm not too fond of these pushy parents who push their kids into auditions, photo shoots, junior pageants, whatever. It often kind've seems like they're thinking of themselves rather than their kids.

let's face it, people with an interest in little girls find passport photos arousing
P.O.I. plenty of late teen girls here in Hello Kitty Land look and dress like that, looking equally asexual.

For what it's worth, I asked Mrs smog (Catholic upbringing, etc) what she thought of the 3 pictures...
The Chinese Disney picture she said that she didn't feel it was a good advertisement, but she didn't feel strongly that it was morally wrong.
The second pic (bunches) she had no problem with.
The third pic (camel toe) she felt was very wrong.
Which supports my astonishment to find camel toe pictures of tweens on Disney's site. Even adult ads for underwear etc go to some lengths to avoid that in "non-adult" publications.
Edited for clarity, that's why it's different from AKA's quote below taken earlier.

thank goodness you found such pictures: a: to astonish yourself b: to counteract LTs original post c: to w**k over?

Why? Because I actually prefer to analyse, debate and understand things rather than just being one of the knee-jerk sheeple?
This clearly isn't a clear-cut question as the responses from various people have shown.
If you are unable to open your mind to rational debate then in my opinion it is you who would benefit from help.

Good question. I think it's an unfortunate consequence of the widespread hysteria over paedophilia and the resultant dread of doing or showing anything that might be thought to "sexualise" underage girls. Of course at the moment then turn 16/18/21 (as arbitrarily defined in each country) it becomes perfectly OK, and the basis for one of the biggest industries on earth. Many people seem to feel that any image on which a girl's camel toe is visible is inherently sexualising that girl, even if it is just a simple photo of her in a swimsuit. The same people, presumably, must have a huge problem with naturism. Personally, I don't see it, and in this case it would seem that the Disney Corporation doesn't either (just to re-emphasise that picture is lifted directly from their online swimwear catalogue).

No, you need help because you like pictures of little girls and you really are so far up your own fundament it's almost unfathomable
I really like your use of the hindsight edit (and the explanantion for edit in small print is a touch of class)
so you go from being "astonished" about the camel toe, to thinking its okay la...simply so you can go on and on and on and basically pontificate in that utterly pompous pontificating way that you do
good luck to you, you sad git

I find that remark extremely offensive. It is not true and I can't see what evidence you have for making it. If you genuinely believe it then please repeat it using my real name (I'm sure you know it) and yours, and then we can let the courts decide. But then again you may just be spouting anonymous bulls**t because you get some strange kick out of it.

No - I was and remain astonished that Disney publish that picture. I personally had and have no problem with it.
I'm sorry that your mental capacity or linguistic ability is so limited that you are unable to understand the difference.
