When I was a kid I collected stamps. I remember I had a set of stamps from a country called Dahomey (da homie !). Later they changed that named to Togo.
And even in the seventies Taiwan was still sometimes called Formosa ('beautiful island').
And once upon a time Manchuria (in Northwest China) was called Manchu-kuo.
Sri Lanka was Ceylon, until about 1970.
Banglasdesh was East Pakkie.
Iran was Persia.
Israel was Palestine.
Lebanon was The Lebanon.
and on and on

Really? Think you might have to rearrange your stamps.

My childhood was full of Japanese invention....that's the only country I knew.
Then I heard about Great Britian because we had the Queen's birthday for public holiday. heeee.....and I thought the Queen looked a bit different from us . Her pictures were displayed everywhere. Then I knew about Qwailo, sorry gwailo, as my Aunt married to a British man and I had the chance to sit on his lap and played with his blonde hair. What funny blue eyes he had I remembered........ then I went to school I learnt the world map. Bloody hell.........and my life was never the same.
