I'm looking for some help from some of you bar experts... last night after an excellent meal at Quarterdeck Mrs smog and I fancied a nightcap or two before turning in. So we wandered down to the Hyatt (just a couple of minutes from Quarterdeck) hoping to cosy up in the champagne bar. Unfortunately it was pretty busy, but also it was so incredibly full of cigar smoke that you could hardly see the singer from the door (only about 50 feet I guess) and the stench was overpowering.
So then we tried to think of somewhere similar, and frankly we couldn't come up with anywhere. So does anyone have any recommendations for a place to go for a nightcap or two which is a lounge bar, in the style of something like the Hyatt champagne bar: low comfy chairs/sofas, subdued lighting, music, but relaxing music (live or piped) of the sort that enhances the environment for conversation rather than making it impossible. Price not an issue. Anywhere from Causeway Bay to Sheung Wan would be OK.
The only one I could think of in the past was the long gone Tango Martini, but there must be others out there. We ended up walking along Wyndham/Hollywood to find most of the places closed or closing (at 11:15 on the eve of a public holiday!), and ended up in Bacar (which is a good wine and food place, but not quite what we originally had in mind).
