Hey, hey who says I get 30 days?! I get 21 days hols per yer (which I admit is really good) but the UK has the fewest public holidays in Europe I think

21 days holiday a year is very poor by UK standards - pretty much everyone starts on 25 days and works upwards with length of service. 25 days will be the EU legal minimum within the next couple of years I believe.

hopefully at some point this weekend there will be round 467 of bickering and arguing, of which I am still to win 1 round.... prolly cause I is a male!!!

Well I meant it is good on a global standard (you know compared to least developed countries and people sentenced to hard labour...) 
Well I can't compare to France really, some people I know have 43 days hols (in banking as well!!) but the UK is definitely more like the US.
If you work in law or banking you are expected to slave. In my case it's worse because I'm a trainee. There are aound 9000 people with the right diploma to become solicitors and around 5000 training places per year, it's got to the point where some trainees work for free (not legal but it happens).
My sister is in NY working as a trainee chef she is not entitled to a holidays before she has completed a year and only gets 1 day off per week most weeks (yes she is also French).
So really I can't complain about holidays.

Really, you're the first person I've ever heard of in the UK in a "graduate" job who got less than 25 days holiday. That's what I started with as a new graduate 20 years ago. Never had less than that until I moved to an American company here in HK 3 years ago when I had to accept 20.
