Seems to be more of them here these days, macho lookin' helpers etc. Looks refreshing actually, the helper scene on Sundays looks more vibrant... so is HK becoming a new Amsterdam or something?

One of the things that has really surprised me as I have got to know the Philippines more is that there does seem to be a very high proportion of young openly gay and lesbian couples there, as well as a lot of transvestite men. And they seem to be very well tolerated in the society - there are a number of ladyboy presenters on TV for example.

There seems to be a huge Indo tomboy subculture here. Especially Boracay on a Sunday afternoon. I wonder if word got out that HK was the place to come if you wanted to munch rug without the imams finding out.
Can't say I've seen the same with Filipinas here, unless you count those who do it on a professional basis. And the only ladyboys I've seen in Philippines look absoutely nails and infinitely scarier than the Thai variety. I'd always put that down to it being a macho culture, and that they had to be knife-you-soon-as-look-at-you hard, just to survive.
