I was walking past a pet shop yesterday and the "puppies" in the display cages were so big they hardly had any room to move about properly. Isn't this blatant cruelty to animals? I suppose I can't say how long they have been in there or when they will leave, but it was a heart breaking sight nonetheless.

I would go right up to the shop and speak my mind.

Its extremely sad and also most of those pups will probably end up with distemper.... rife in this town with pet shop pups

Actually, most likely they'd be dead by the third day of arriving at their new homes. Many horror stories about unscrupulous pet shop owners selling disease-ravaged pets to new owners that ought to know better.

If that's the case, don't they have health quarantee certificate for Pet purchased ? You could get your money back if something's wrong with the pet within 14 days at least , may be more I forgot..........

Short answer is: No.

Not to mention you have to spend a few thousand bucks in vain attempts to cure the doggy at the vet's. It costs more to see a vet than a doctor. Now how does that work?

When we got our dog we took it the vets and it had:
Chest infection
Ear mites

Treatment cost more than the dog but he's saved us money when he helped get the Guinea Pig moved out (as it was Guinea PigS before he scared one of them to death).

And meet peanut oil and soy sauce...

You guys think it's bad? Saw a photo of "meat dogs" crammed in cages--not unlike how chickens are caged--in Korea a few years, now that's sad.

Would anyone entertain the thought of dining on guinea pigs? They are as dumb as chickens so maybe not as cruel to eat them?

Guinea pigs are bred for food in South America I believe. No problem with that as far as I am concerned.

smog by the same token you shouldn't have any problem enjoying dogs as they are bred for food both in Vietnam and Korea.

I've got no problem eating dog - it's just a smaller cow innit?
It's really simple - if you eat any meat you can't really complain or get sensitive about eating any other type of meat on account of you think it's 'cuter' or 'cleverer' or 'man's best friend'. However - if the protein source can talk back to you and hold a conversation - it's probably illegal.

Don't think many new owners of the pets from the shop has much more space for them either. They should ban people living in shoe box in town to have pets altogether.
