Hi, (have already done google search with not much luck), but does anyone know where I can get a hold of an english version of the customs notes at the Lo Wu border?
I wanted to check if I can bring in fresh herbs/basil, oregano plants etc in to Shenzhen, as I am dying to start cooking yummy italian dishes (which is best with fresh herbs not dried twigs).
However, when I asked two different customs people there, I get different answers so I wanted to refer to a written english copy to make sure I don't get shot......
OTHERWISE, does anyone know where I can get fresh herbs and salad greens or herb plants from in SZ??
Thanks.

I wouldn't risk taking anything through the border that could be questioned at the moment. The authorities have gone paranoid and the low level staff at the borders are ignorant, inconsistent and liable to act first and question later.

the only problem with getting really fresh herbs is that they often have little bits of soil on them easy to wash off, you may think, but the water isn't so fresh, and it adjusts the chemical PH of the leaves, and affects the taste
you need to then invest in the little brushes specifically designed for herbs, but they are amost impossible to locate here
Can anyone help me locate a basil brush?

It's illegal to takein any plant or fruit into china If customs find it (and they will if it's x rayed) it will be confiscated If they can't identify it's herbs, you'll be free to go If they have no idea what it is ( most likely, cos Organo and Basil aren't used in Chinese cooking) then you'll have some fun trying to explain your way out of a drugs arrest
