My family will hold a small party there. 10% service charge can be waived if I know anyone who is the current member in American club. I checked with the banqueting office, i just need to provide the member name and number for their record only. If you don't want to disclose these information to me, a direct call or fax from you to American club is also helpful. I will give you the date of event and other information if you can do me this big favor. THANK YOU!!

The member is also liable if the user defaults in payment. And by the way, what you propose is against the Club's byelaws!

So, I guess
a) you need to start making friends fast (as someone you do not know is less likely to help you out)
b) you pay the service fee.
c) find a cheaper place.

And, incidentally, who told you there was a 10% 'service charge'. Service charge is prohibited. There shouldn't even be a charge in the first place!

the Hong Kong Yacht Club has a wonderfull place at middle island, and they do cater for non members for functions! service charge as far as i know is waived.

no i mean the HKYC , they own the building on the left side of middle island, much better, big locker shower rooms, nice big terraces, nice club hours, boat storage, BBQ pits etcv.
the one form ABC only has a canopy there with a BBQ pit.
both however accept functions from non members and both are pretty cheap. how i know this? am a member at ABC, and worked last year at RHKYC.....
