Now beer boy, that pic could be his girlfriend! Be nice!
I wait for the day when schools have all the funding they need and the airforce has to have a cake stall to raise money for a new bomber.

HK Gringo, are you trying to say that what happened to minority voters in Florida during the first election was not the result of a faulty system in place? If Gore had carried Florida there would never have been an electoral college issue.
With regards to the second election, I am assuming if you were in the States at least for the 6 months leading up to the election you must have been on one of the coasts. I say this because I fail to see how you missed the constant referral of 9/11 by Dick, Laura, and even GW, constantly on TV and in campaign commercials. Besides, how did you miss the constant barrage of the "war on terror". GW won the election because he promised to protect the US, because he was fighting the war on terror. Granted Kerry lacked charisma, he also failed to tell middle America, and most importantly the South, how he was going to deal with this issue.
One last thing, you are aware that news in the States is dependant on the State you reside in. A lot of the demonstrations against Bush that were going on in the coastal states, were not aired or even mentioned, in the South.
I'm bored, I'm pi*sy, and, I have no shame.

Enlighten me, what do you think happened to minority voter's in FL during the first election...there's so many conspiracy theories running around out there about how the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy © shafted minorities that I like to be clear on which one we're discussing before I try to tackle it.
I was living in HK during the last election, but I followed it closely, very closely. (I haven't lived on a coast in many years) I am aware that our war time president was promising to protect America...he is a war time president, after all.
I think you have blinders on if you really feel that this is why he won. He won because of (in order of most important to least): 1. a lack luster performance by Kerry 2. because PAC's with more money than sense (like MoveOn.org) launched the biggest barrage of ridiculous smear tactics ever in the history of US presidential elections 3. because of a promise to seal our borders (a promise that he is NOT keeping) 4. his social security platform 5. and then because of the war on terror
Was the war on terror a big deal and did it receive a lot of play, of course...I refer you back to the fact that we are at war, he is a war time president and 9/11 did happen (the first attack on US soil since December 7th, 1941). My argument goes back to GT's post that this win was somehow created by the VRWC © which, in my mind, is moonbat talk.
I think Kerry did a fine job of telling the South and middle America how he was going to handle the protection of America...I just think most people thought that his 'sensitive war on terror' was a bunch of crap and wouldn't want to have him at the helm. Kerry spent more time in Ohio than any Democratic candidate has ever spent...didn't work out too well for him though...
As to the demonstrations...as I mentioned earlier I followed this election very closely and I was very aware of the demonstrations against Bush...a big problem with a lot of the demonstrations was their credibility. When you get a couple thousand far leftista's together comparing Bush to Hitler it doesn't help your cause...the biggest problem on the left in America is the irrationality and overzealous nature that comes across as a spitting hatred...most people aren't stupid and see this as what it is.
Look, I'm no huge Bush fan...I'm a moderate when it comes right down to it. I firmly believe that the far reaches of the left and the right are a huge detriment to society as a whole...problem is that the far left is generally manned on the street by loonies and nitwits in Che Guevara t-shirts while the far right is smart enough to disguise their craziness and insanity by hiding behind their overly religious veil.

Don't put too much effort into it. I know my political views aren't the most popular or mainstream in the world right now...that's why I usually just keep my yap shut. I kinda stumbled into this discussion after a few beers.
Just don't label me as a Bush lover...we, as American's were essentially tasked with picking a leader from a choice of dumb and dumber...I think we made the right choice, albeit barely...and, in all honesty, Kerry wouldn't have been much more than Bush Lite. I was just slightly more impressed with some of Bush's domestic policies than I was with Kerry's.
Gimme a McCain ticket in '08 and I'll be a happier man. *crosses fingers*
