Dear forum,

I think Bono is a wa*ker. Why is it that every save the world event (like every live aid ever) has to have him in it. And his face is the biggest on the poster as well.

Now i don't know about you but I don't think that singers or actors should preach about politics and so forth. He acts like he's the bloody messiah or something. Do people realise that he is just a singer in a crap band who wears sunglasses even when its dark.

Why is he so well reveared? U2's music is not very inspiring. And i heard he kicked up a fuss cos other singers were vying to sing the line that goes "and i hope you know its them, instead of you" in that bloody christmas montage. He claimed it was HIS line. What a twat. p**s off Bono.

Sabrina, don't just stare at it. Eat it.

Bono is an anagram of Nobo.

Coincidence? I think not.

I agree with with the majority of what your saying, but at the end of the day, if they where not doing it nobody would be. As the various governments around the world with the power don't seem to want to do that much to help.

If you have got any problems with this site send them to Support@HKExpats.com Thanks

Patrick...is that the "Chav" avatar you've picked? Shame there isn't one in Burberry check!

Anyroads...I agree that Bonehead is a right w*nker, and U2's music is not very inspiring. But I disagree that singers or actors shouldn't preach about politics, current affairs, or whatever. Their lives are just as affected as anyone elses, and they have as much right to speak out as an engineer or a banker or a teacher (or anyone else). They are human too...behind the performing-monkey persona.

It's easy to be cynical about people's motivations for doing something selfless and good. I remember nasty little rumours about Bob Geldof arranging Live Aid because the Boomtown Rats were failing, back in the 80's (which I didn't/don't believe). I don't know what Bono's motivations are, but if he can and does make a difference to starving kids, or alleviates dire poverty, (even by using his fame) then good for him. It's what he accomplishes that's important (especially if he embarrasses a few politicians in action)...and if we have to suffer his face (+ stupid sunglasses) on a few posters, then that's OK.

Every normal man must be tempted at times to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.

The thing is, millions don't get to hear a banker or teacher's view.
I agree, who cares what he thinks? But we're going to hear it anyway.

More of a worry is the people who become famous 'for being famous' eg Paris Hilton and Nicole Ritchie. For God's sake.....'celebrities'??????

Eye candy???? Paris Hilton always reminds me of a praying mantis and
Nicole Ritchie veers between anorexia and 'plump'.
Now I do not care what women look like.....but describing them as 'eye candy' is a bit much I reckon beer guy!!!

I thought the real celebtrities these days were the contestants in the endless Reality TV shows...that was certainly the impression I got last time I was back home. The whole bloody country had gone reality tv mad.....

Bono has his heart in the right place - at least he's trying to help other people. So for that we should cut the guy some slack. So his music and fashionstyle may not be everyone's cup of tea but I applaud anyone who has enough balls to stop world hunger. One man can't do it but at least he's trying. I still can't understand a word Bob Geldof is singing and I think he should at least comb his hair and iron his clothes before appearing in public - but I'm cutting him some slack because he genuinely cares. So chill, and check your cynicism at the door.

I'm not complaining that he wants to help the world. But i'm sure there are lots of stars who would like to help out with live aid. The publicity is enormous. Why does Bono always get the leading role? Let someone elso take over.

It seems to me that Bono and Bob have their own little clique and they decide who gets to play. I just don't understand why Bono has such a high profile. Im sure he doesnt do stuff to help the world unless there's an amazing amount of publicity in it.
